R.I.P. Reining Legend Bill Horn

Sadly, one of reining’s greats, Bill Horn, rode into the great reining pen in the sky on December 9th. We are all truly saddended by the news, and our hearts go out to Bill’s wife Kim during this difficult time.

Here’s what the NRHA reported:

Sadly, NRHA and reining lost one of their most beloved legends when Bill Horn succumbed to illness on Dec. 9, 2011, at the age of 73. The void his passing leaves behind cannot be filled.

His friends and fans will remember him as the ultimate reiner. He was a student of Dale Wilkinson and he learned the trade well. He was a mentor to many, an NRHA President, an NRHA Hall of Fame inductee, NRHA’s first Million Dollar Rider, multiple NRHA Futurity, Derby, SuperStakes, and World Champion. But most of all he was a friend, known to an entire family of reiners as BH.

A “Celebration of Life” for Bill Horn” will take place Saturday, December 17, at 2:00 p.m. (EST). Bill’s wife, Kim, will host the event at their home:

Kim Horn requests that anyone who wishes to attend to respond on her Facebook page at Kimberly Horn.
